A new parts washing system from specialist manufacturer Oliver Douglas Ltd. has now been installed at one of the country’s most innovative manufacturers of snack food products. The equipment, a Panamatic 700, is fully operational at Humdinger’s manufacturing plant in Sleaford, Lincolnshire – one of four sites operated by the company – where the emphasis is on a range of nut-based products.
“The success of the Humdinger range of snack foods reflects the company’s commitment to operational efficiency which has underpinned its dramatic growth in recent years,” comments John Glover, Oliver Douglas Sales Manager. “Their use now of the Panamatic installation is a good example as it means the full range of multi-head weighing parts can be processed through a single installation. This ensures not only that the highest levels of cleaning are maintained, but that clean parts are continually fed back into the production process.”
The self-contained Oliver Douglas Panamatic 700 is well designed to act as a focus for an application of this type. The all stainless steel fabrication features a large capacity water tank which minimises water changes to help to maximise processing efficiency.
“Products at Humdinger are manually loaded into a wire tray that is designed to accommodate a number of different sizes and configurations of parts,” continues John Glover. He explains that this is then inserted through a front loading door into the wash chamber where it is subjected to the action of two wash and rinse spray arms that ensure maximum cleaning from all directions and angles is achieved.
“We have been able to position the Panamatic in the optimum part of the factory alongside the company’s existing manual washing facility. Whilst providing excellent results, the former system is now markedly improved upon in terms of simplicity and ease of cleaning operations,” adds John Glover.
The Panamatic 700 is one of a series of stand-alone industrial washing machines developed by Oliver Douglas and is now installed in more than 4000 facilities worldwide. Alongside other designs, including cabinet washers, one-man industrial tray washing machines and built-in conveyor systems, the Panamatic is available in a choice of sizes to provide a highly flexible and effective, dedicated facility. The installation at Humdinger is a prime example of a forward looking manufacturer gaining from the performance capability and economics of operation of the Oliver Douglas Panamatic, thereby underlining its ongoing commitment to manufacturing and processing methods.
